Rehab, ain’t no picnic
You could look at drug and alcohol treatment as a total bummer, or you could think of it as a godsend. Take it from a guy who knows what he’s talking about. I, myself, went to alcohol rehab to take care of a little problem with the sauce, but I know tons of other cats who went in for drug treatment. Let me tell you, neither one is a picnic, but they both work miracles. Drug and alcohol treatment can often be the only thing that works for people with terrible addictions to drugs and alcohol and they can also save those people’s lives. If you’ve never suffered from drug addiction or alcoholism you probably will never truly be able to understand. But you really don’t need to understand drug addictions and alcoholism to know that drug and alcohol treatment are the only things that can really cure a person of these terrible afflictions. Everyday thousands and thousands of people find their lives are being taken over by drug abuse and alcoholism. They find themselves in deeper jams than they have ever been in and they are in dire need of assistance. Drug and alcohol treatment is that helping hand that they’re searching for and you can’t be mad at that.

Some drug addiction treatment centers will tell you that they’ve discovered the secret to rehab, some super-special drug treatment program that supposedly works with equal effectiveness for every drug addict. Here’s a word of advice: If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
The plain truth, whether or not anyone wants to hear it, is that drug rehab is and must be a patient-driven process. Drug addiction treatment centers can’t guarantee the effectiveness of their rehabilitation programs, for the simple reason that that success isn’t up to them. On the contrary, successful addiction treatment programs are invariably a product of patients’ engagement with their own healing. Drug addiction treatment centers that you tell you otherwise just don’t get it.
The drug rehab program that’s right for you…the drug rehab program that can help you rediscover the world as you used to know it…is the one that helps you get better on your own terms. Successful drug treatment is about empowerment, more than anything else, about helping patients develop the emotional skills and psychological tools they’ll need to help themselves. A drug treatment program that can give you that much will quite literally save your life. One that can’t isn’t even worth your time.

If I had to say something about drug and alcohol rehab I think that it would be something good. I can’t actually think of something bad to say about it. Drug and alcohol rehab help people correct some of the worst mistakes in their lives and they help keep families together. Between drug and alcohol rehab neither is the best. They are both great saviors of human lives. With the knowledge and skills learned by the people who run the show at these places, you are always in good hands. It’s sort of like the original idea of the Statue of Liberty. The people who are seeking drug and alcohol rehab are the “huddled masses yearning to be free.” I, having gone to rehab, know that it can seem like a person is not getting anything from the program, but drug and alcohol rehab practitioners are good at what they do and they get the job done. They know how to lead the way toward a better existence and they pride themselves by using that ability. To fully understand, you’d have to live in the shoes of a person who remembers how bad it was then and knows how good it is now.
